used to create anything from simple web graphics to corporate logos, sophisti-
cated technical illustrations, and more. In the following example you will learn
how to use the vector tools on the job by creating a hypothetical corporate logo.
1. Press Cmd+N to create a new document. Type Logo in the Name text
box and select Web from the Preset drop-down and 800n600 from the
Size drop-down. Click OK.
2. Press Cmd+R to toggle on the rulers if they aren't already on. Drag
out horizontal and vertical guides from their respective rulers and
snap them to 50%.
3. Select the Polygon tool and set Sides to 3 on the options bar. Select
Shape tool mode, open the fill type drop-down and select a blue solid
color. Position the cursor at the intersection of guides, drag vertically,
and hold Shift until the cursor is at 10% along on the vertical ruler
(see Figure 5.5).

4. Select the Ellipse tool on the options bar and select the Exclude
Overlapping Shape Areas from the Path operations drop-down on the
options bar. Open the Geometry Options drop-down and select the
