6. Press Cmd+R to toggle on the rulers. Right-click one of the rulers
and choose Percent from the context menu if Percent is not already
selected. Position the cursor at 40% horizontally and 40% vertically,
drag down to the right, and hold Shift to constrain the proportions
of the custom shape until you reach approximately 50% vertically
(see Figure 5.3). This is a vector shape, and you can see that the form
of the light bulb shape is quite crisp and sharp. Rename the Shape 1
layer Vector .

7. Press Cmd+J to copy the current layer. Rename the Vector Copy layer
Raster . Open the Fill type menu and select the blue color swatch.
Right-click the Raster layer and choose Rasterize Layer from the con-
text menu. Notice that this layer has now lost its vector quality.
8. Press V to select the Move tool. Uncheck Auto-Select on the options
bar if it is selected. Drag the blue light bulb to the right until it is a
short distance away from the red light bulb. Both bulbs look equally
crisp and sharp. The red bulb is vector and the blue bulb is raster.
They look the same because vector shapes are ultimately rasterized.
