show values for Store Sales for all countries except Canada.
You can define cell security using either Data Definition Language (DDL) statements or a
user interface provided by SQL Server Management Studio or BI Dev Studio. The following
steps describe how to apply cell security using BI Dev Studio.
1. In BI Dev Studio, open the FoodMart 2008 project.
2. In the Solution Explorer, double-click the Role.role role to open the role editor.
3. Choose the Cell Data page.
4. In the Cube drop-down list, choose the Warehouse and Sales cube.
5. Check the Enable Read Permissions check box.
6. You can copy and paste the expression into the Allow Reading of Cube Content box,
or click Edit MDX and use MDX Builder to construct an MDX statement.
7. After you have defined an MDX expression, you can make sure that it has the cor-
rect syntax by clicking the Check button.
Figure 37.2 shows the MDX Builder dialog with an MDX expression that allows access to
all cells except those corresponding to sales in Canada.
