Day of the Dead
An Insider's View of San Miguel de Allende
Once a year, St. Paul's Episcopal Church in San Miguel de Allende offers an opportunity
to enjoy an insider's view of San Miguel de Allende, stay with a family, mix with expats,
see how they live, learn why they chose San Miguel, and participate in a major Mexican
tradition: The Day of the Dead. It's the major fundraiser of the year for Feed the Hungry, a
charitable program, and most of the cost of the tour goes to support a school lunch program
for impoverished Mexican children.
I generally believe the word “tour” is anathema to the independent traveler. But with my
daughter Nena and granddaughter Isabela, I took a risk, and signed up.
