In-Depth Information
because enough variables have been selected for the analysis to be
performed.
Paste : This causes the underlying syntax to be placed in a syntax
window. This syntax can be edited. Syntax files have the extension
.sps and can be saved in the same manner as data files. Once saved,
they can be opened in the same manner as you would open data files
as described in Section A.11. We use this Paste function throughout
the topic to perform simple effects analyses of interactions.
Reset : This causes all of the variables clicked over to the analysis
panels to be returned to the Variable List and brings the analysis
specifications back to its original settings.
Cancel : Closes the dialog box and returns you to the data file.
Help (on Macs it is a “?” button): Brings you to the SPSS help system.
A.14 SAVING OUTPUT FILES
A.14.1 WHAT THE OUTPUT LOOKS LIKE
When you instruct SPSS to perform a statistical analysis, it displays the
results in a window in the form of an output file. The results tend to be
organized by tables.
We have provided you with an example of some output in Figure A19.
Separate tables contain the descriptive statistics and the summary table
