14.11 PERFORMING THE SIMPLE EFFECTS ANALYSIS IN SAS
To perform the simple effects analysis in SAS Enterprise Guide , configure
the analysis as shown in Section 14.9.2. Then in the Least Squares Post
Hoc Tests screen shown in Figure 14.30, in the Effects to use frame, set
the three-way interaction to True and all others to False . Then in the
Comparisons frame, set Show p-values for differences to All pairwise
differences and set Adjustment method for comparison to Bonferroni .
Click Run to perform the analysis.
14.12 SAS OUTPUT FROM THE SIMPLE EFFECTS ANALYSIS
A portion of the results of the simple effects tests are shown in Figure 14.31,
and is read in a manner analogous to how we described this process in
Chapters 12-13. To illustrate this, consider for example the first compar-
ison in the table. The first three coded columns represent one condition
and the last three coded columns represent the other condition. We are
thus comparing the mean for age1,gender1,attract1 (teens who were
female rating their jealousy for emotional attraction with a mean of 2.8)
with age1,gender1,attract2 (teens who were female rating their jealousy
