6.3. Third grade children were randomly assigned to one of three rein-
forcement contingency conditions. They were told to study a list of twenty
different spelling words for twenty minutes, after which they would be
tested. After the test, the children would receive either ice cream and cake,
cookies and punch, or celery and carrot juice. The number of correctly
spelled words served as the dependent variable. Conduct an ANOVA on
these data by hand and with SPSS or SAS, and summarize your results.
