For example, a resistor with the colors brown (1), black (0), orange (1K), and
gold (5%), as pictured in Figure C-1 , would have the value 10K (10,000) ohms
with 5% tolerance.

If you encounter a resistor with five color bands, it simply means that there's
an extra digit before the multiplier. See Table C-3 to determine the value.
