60°C for 48 h. Bulk carbon and total organic carbon contents
were analyzed from 0.5 g of dry sample using a LECO CS-
125 IR analyzer. Inorganic carbonate content is calculated as if
all the carbonate were CaCO 3 (wt %). Abundance of dolomite
was estimated by X-ray diffraction. The remaining sample
was wet sieved using a >63 μ m sieve. The 150 - 250 μ m
fraction was used to pick foraminifera for radiocarbon dates
and stable isotopes. The >150
μ
m fraction was used for
identi
cation of different components of ice-rafted detritus
(IRD) such as limestone and dolostone fragments of different
colors and compositions, quartz, granite, basalt, terrigenous
sedimentary rock fragments, etc. [Rashid et al.,2003a].
Stable isotopes were measured on 40 - 50 handpicked
planktonic Neogloboquadrina pachyderma (s). From all
