Both projections have a near and far plane. The
near plane
is typically very close
to the camera, and anything between the camera and the near plane is not drawn.
This is why games will sometimes have characters partially disappear if they get
too close to the camera. Similarly, the
far plane
is far away from the camera, and
anything past that plane is not drawn either. Games on PC will often let the user
reduce the “draw distance” in order to speed up performance, and this often is just
a matter of pulling in the far plane.
