This small agricultural community sits on the banks of the pretty Ytri-Rangá river in an
important horse-breeding area. The nearest town to shadow-wreathed volcano Hekla,
35km north, and a crossroads for lots of interesting spots, it's becoming an increasingly
popular stopover.
Sights & Activities
The town of Hella itself has little of interest to tourists, who use it as a base camp for horse
riding or adventures beyond. The handicrafts cooperative
