Reykjavík's original hostel is a large, ecofriendly complex with a fun backpacker vibe.
Two kilometres east of the centre in Laugardalur, it abuts the campground and swimming
pool, and is served by the Flybus and many tour operators. It boasts bike rental, three guest
kitchens and a spacious deck. HI members discount Ikr700, kids four to 12 discount
Ikr1500.

Reykjavík's only campground (2km east of the centre in Laugardalur, next to the swim-
ming pool and City Hostel) is popular in summer with campers come to town. There's
space for 650 people in three fields, so you're likely to find a spot. Extensive, modern fa-
cilities include free showers, bike hire (five hours Ikr3500), kitchens and barbecue areas.
