Saved Searches (previously Smart Albums)
Elements contains a second collection type, the Saved Search which was previously
called Smart Albums. Because of this heritage we include the feature here. Images that
are included in a Saved Search are based on one or more search criteria established at the
time that the collection is created. Each time the Saved Search entry is selected, Elements
automatically adds any new photos that meet the criteria to the group. Saved Searches are a
great way to keep important collections of images up to date without the need to manually
find and add images to the group. You can create Saved Searches either via the New Saved
Search entry in the Saved Search dialog (click the magnify icon on the left of the search field
at the top of the screen and choose the Saved Searches entry), or by executing a search using
the Find > By Details (Metadata) feature. Both avenues provide the user with the chance to
choose the search criteria used for the basis of the Saved Search. With the Find option, it is
necessary to select the Save this Search Criteria as Saved Search setting from the options
menu at the top of the results display.
