The Organizer Shortcuts Bar
Sitting just beneath the Organizer's menus is the Shortcuts bar. Here you will find a series of
buttons and features designed to make your task of working with images in the workspace
easier. Features include:
Import Menu: The Import menu lists the key ways to bring your photos into Elements. The
options listed here largely duplicate those found in the File > Get Photos and Videos menu
but with faster access to those that you will use the most.
Catalog View Modes
New for Photoshop Elements 11 is the inclusion of four different view modes for your catalog
images. This is not a radical departure from the way Adobe has been heading over the last
few revisions, but rather it more a simplification of the viewing options. The four modes are:
Media View Mode: Use this mode to view all the images and resources you have within
your catalog. Of course you are able to show picture sub-sets using keyword tags, album
entries or search criteria, but generally this is the mode you will use to see your collection as
a whole.
People View Mode: Once you start to use the Add People feature in Elements to identify the
individuals in your photos you are then able to display these groups of photos according to
the people they contain. It is important to note that by default no images will be displayed in
this mode until you add People Tags to your photos.
Places View Mode: This option replaces Map View and allows you to associate photos with
specific locations and then display these groups of pictures on a map.
Events View Mode: Replacing the Time Line view of previous versions, the Events mode
groups your photos according to events and the dates they occurred. Use the Add Event
feature to manually group pictures around a date or select the Smart Event setting to get
Elements to do it for you.
