7 Move the Enhance Details slider to increase or decrease the local contrast and
diffusion in the photo. Movements to the left lead to a more diffused and lower
contrast result whereas sliding the control right creates a high contrast photo
where the detail is more pronounced.
8 By selecting the Style Eraser and painting onto the photo you can remove the
style matching effects from these parts of the image. Tones and colors from the
original photo will be displayed in these erased areas. The Style Brush can be
used to paint in the styling in areas where effects have already been erased.
9 The Transfer Tones setting applies the color and tonal rendition of the Style Im-
age as well as the overall 'look and feel'. Use this option to convert color images
to black and white or when you want the color tinting of the Style Image to be
replicated in the After photo.
10 Finally, you can click Reset to remove the current Style Image from the work-
space and return the After photo to its original state, Done to apply the styling
or Cancel to close the workspace and remove any styling from the photo.
Styling using your own pictures
The example style images supplied by Adobe do provide a good range of possible styling op-
tions but you can add to this set by loading your photos into the Style Bin. To do this simply
click the green '+' at the top left of the bin and choose to add images from the Organizer
or your hard disk. Next, the Add Photos dialog appears and you can select the images to
include.
When picking photos via the Organizer, the dialog includes a range of options to determine
where you are selecting the images from. If you choose to get your photos from the hard
drive then you will be presented with a standard browser window where you can navigate
to, and select, the images to include.
Pressing the Add Selected Pictures button (or Open if you are working with the browser
window) adds the photos to the Style Image Bin. These images can then be used to style your
photos in the same way as those supplied by Adobe. Pictures already listed in the Style Bin
can be removed by selecting the thumbnail first and then clicking the Dust Bin button at the
top left of the bin.
Paint-on styling
The Style Eraser and Style Painter tools allow you to remove the styling from portions of the
photo and paint-back the styling in areas where the effects of the feature have already been
erased. When used together, these tools provide a quick way to style only those sections of
the photo that you want to change.
