Selections of images can
be used to create custom
brush tips using the Define
Brush from Selection entry.
Defining a new brush from an image workflow:
1 Open the source picture containing the image part that you want to use as a
base for the new brush tip. Using one of the selection tools outline the image
part. In the Christmas card example, I selected a single holly leaf.
2 With the selection still active pick Edit > Define Brush from Selection and enter
a new name for the Holly Brush. Click OK to add the brush to the current set of
brush tips.
3 Select the new brush tip from the bottom of the brush list thumbnails. Set the
foreground color to black and click-drag to draw with the brush.
4 To further refine the look and characteristics of the new brush click on the More
Options button in the options bar. Apply new settings for the Spacing, Fade,
Hue Jitter and Scatter options and also change the fore- and background colors.
Click-drag to test the new brush tip.
5 When completed select the Save Brush option from the pop-out menu in the
brush list brush presets pane.
