Font family and style
The font family is a term used to describe the way that the
letter shapes look. Most readers would be familiar with the
difference in appearance between Arial and Times Roman.
These are two different families each containing different
characteristics that determine the way that the letter shapes
appear. The font style refers to the different versions of the
same font family. Most fonts are available in regular, italic,
bold and bold italic styles.

font
families
You can download new fonts from specialist websites to add
to your system. Some families are available free of charge,
others can be purchased online. After downloading, the
fonts should be installed into the Fonts section of your sys-
tem directory. Windows and Macintosh users will need to
consult their operating system manuals to find the preferred
method for installing new fonts on their computer.
