In-Depth Information
When the speed is up to 112.65km/h, from Fig.5 we can see lateral accelerations of
tractor and semitrailer occur great fluctuation. It means the vehicle will roll, so
112.65km/h is the threshold of roll in steering and braking condition.

4 Conclusion
In this paper, tractor semitrailer CA4188P11K2CT1 of FAW Group Corporation is
taken as an example. Its roll stability performance is analyzed by means of ARCSIM
simulation software. Two running conditions are selected. One is "lane-changing"
condition and another is "steering and braking" condition. According to simulation
test data of two conditions, we can conclude:
1) The relative values of lateral acceleration, lateral displacement, yaw angle, yaw
angle between the tractor and the semitrailer is smaller, the roll stability performance
is better.
2) As to this tractor semitrailer under full load, it will roll at 126km/h when it
change lane and roll at 112.65km/h when it steer and brake meanwhile.
3) We can increase the speed threshold of roll and enhance the roll stability through
optimizing design parameters of the tractor semitrailer.
4) One suggestion is that the orthogonal test can be used to analysis main effects on
performance of design parameters.
