In-Depth Information
ARCSIM performs virtual tests, replacing an instrumented test vehicle with a
computer model. It solves the equations of motion numerically for a mathematical
model to predict 3D motions of a vehicle in response to braking and steering inputs
[3].
In this paper, by means of ARCSIM software, research work has been done on roll
stability simulation of tractor-semitrailer. So the method of simulation analysis is
gained in order to provide reference for product design. Simulation object is selected
as follows: tractor is CA4188P11K2CT1 truck of the FAW Group and trailer is
SGG9370TJZ FAW-trailer which's gross deadweight is 40 tons. The basic size of
FAW tractor CA4188 is shown in Figure 1.

3 Simulation Analysis of Roll Stability
3.1 Simulation of Lane-Changing Condition
First simulation case of roll stability is taken as: "lane-changing" condition, full load,
the running speed is set from 96.56km/h to up. When simulation, the speed is divided
by several grades, the steering wheel angle step input signal is applied, and then
response data is analyzed. Further, the roll stability in different structural parameters
and motion parameters is studied [4,5].
When the tractor-semitrailer runs at the speed on 96.56km/h, the simulation results
are shown in Fig.2.
