conditions, and there aren't requestors, so it is difficult to carry on demand analysis
commonly, most of demand analysis come from experiences or existing information.
With limited condition at present, it is very important that tutors should instruct
students to complete demand analysis reports. The concept structure design requires
students to design E-R model, describe attributes of entities and the relation of
entities, and eliminate unnecessary redundancy on the basis of demand analysis. The
logical structure design can realize the transformation from E-R chart to relation
model, and normalize the relation model, define the primary key, foreign key and
view. The physical structure design is selecting index and cluster group.
Implementing and coding means the implementing, running and maintaining of
database, include program and debugging of application system.
4) Showing results
When students complete the design and development of project with the mode of
project group, the project leaders of various groups demonstrate the program and
show the results. We can also regard this stage as pre-evaluation, and students will
improve their own works further according to the amending suggestions proposed by
classmates and teachers and using the advantages of others for reference.
5) Project evaluating
The project evaluating is divided into two parts mainly, which include self rating and
teacher rating. At the stage of showing results, students have known the situations of
their own works and others, and they will describe the advantages and disadvantages
of their own projects literally without grading in the part of self rating. In the part of
teacher rating, teachers will grade step by step, namely grade each item according to
key steps in the process of database course design mentioned above.
2.2 The Isomerism Factors
In the process of implementing course design, we stress the feature of isomerism, and
do our best to exercise the special talents of each student by the isomerism of subject,
personnel and evaluation system in order to improve the action of course design.
1) Subject isomerism
The subjects can be divided into three types including classical cases, special areas and
distinctive projects. The subjects of classical cases type, such as teaching management
system and topics management system, have so many reference information students
could find, so they can be implemented easily. The subjects of special areas type, such as
case management system, document movement system, have their own application area,
and most of students haven't contacted with them, so they need some kind of practical
environments to obtain the demands. The subjects of distinctive projects type include the
management system of evidence collecting, and the computer evidence collecting is a
distinctive major of our college at present, a great number of data obtained through
evidence collecting need to be organized efficiently through database. These kinds of
subjects are difficult to some extent. There are many differences between these types of
subjects in the aspects of applied areas, demands of practice environment, knowledge
quantity. The isomerism between subjects is useful to cultivating students in different
levels or with different characteristics.
