Now combinations of CMU boards in Uni-XSB or Quad-XSB mode can be com-
bined to form domains with different processing capacity. Dynamic Domains also
allow for those domains to have more resources added to them without requiring
a system shutdown or domain shutdown first. Because the new CMU just added
has the newest processors available, the domain is able to stay current with the
latest technology without penalty.
2.3.2 View from the Domain
Once the domain is running, the domain administrator needs the ability to view
the resources available from the domain's perspective. There are many reasons
why domain resources need to be identifiable from within the domain. For ex-
ample, they enable use of application scripts that perform different operations
depending on the number of CPUs, amount of memory, or type of network in-
terface control (NIC) cards available. Moreover, inventory control might need to
be performed within the domain, due to different business units in the company
owning different domain hardware.
The Solaris prtdiag command shows the list of resources in a specific domain.
-bash-3.00# prtdiag
