8.1.2 Summary
There are many ways to configure the M-Series servers. Configuring these sys-
tems requires understanding and balancing trade-offs. Configuring for higher
availability increases costs, but also greatly improves application service uptime.
All domains are not equal in importance. It is often appropriate to use shared
resources for domains that run less important workloads.
8.2 Consolidating with Oracle VM Server for SPARC
(Logical Domains)
Oracle VM Server for SPARC (also called Logical Domains) provides the most
direct way to consolidate complete Solaris SPARC instances from multiple serv-
ers onto a single hardware platform. Each domain hosts a private Oracle Solaris
