find it easier to use small bags or tea filters closed tightly with clothespins. Pollinate with a small
brush.

Newer commercial varieties are mostly parthenocarpic (genetically purely female) varieties. These
produce high fruit yields without pollination. Seeds normally do not form, making these varieties not
particularly useful for home seed propagation. Parthenocarpic varieties will develop seeds when grown
together with an open-pollinated cucumber variety, which may be problematic if you were expecting
seedless cucumbers.
Garden cucumbers will climb when given the opportunity.
