programs (see Table 11.1). Expanding the palette of DNA-compatible chemical reac-
tions for ad hoc library synthesis, as well as performing selections on protein targets
in native environment (e.g., using living cells or cell lysate), remain the most chal-
lenging tasks for future advances of this technology in the drug discovery field. Only
time will tell whether DNA-encoded chemical library technology will play an impor-
tant role in drug discovery and be able to cope with third-millennium pharmaceutical
challenges [8,129].
