collection of contributions to the key-escrow/Clipper-chip
issues, including contributions by PGP-author Phil
Zimmermann and Matthew Blaze (see Section 6.4), and
contributions from The Times , and former US Vice-President
Al Gore.

Munich/Vienna, 1997, ISBN 3-446-19070-8. This is a highly
interesting and informative topic, despite some negative
critique. The author used to work with a 'competitive analysis'
firm and knows what he is talking about. He describes many
specific practical cases, and the practical use of PGP.

that summarizes the history of cryptology. The author
thoroughly researched among first-hand sources, militaries,
and intelligence agencies (and nevertheless didn't know in
1967 that the Enigma had been broken). Despite its scaring
volume (about 1000 pages, including references), everybody
should have a look at this topic. You will learn about a large
number of authentic James Bond stories, surprising historical
