Inconclusion,transplantablemultilayeredperiodontalligamentcell
sheets were successfully fabricated with woven poly(glycolic acid),
and its use combined with porous
-tricalcium phosphate induced
true periodontal regeneration, including alveolar bone, cementum,
and well-oriented fibers at the same time. Periodontal ligament cell
sheet transplantation should prove useful for periodontal regenera-
tion in clinicalsettings.

44.7 Endoscopic Esophageal Epithelial Transplantation
Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) has enabled the noninva-
sive removal of gastrointestinal tract cancers without the need for
esophageal reconstruction. 64 67 Although EMR is a widely accepted
technique, the size of treatment is limited, and the retrieval of
multiple specimens, which can damage the tissues, is needed. 68 A
novel method of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) permits
large en bloc resections without the size limitation, enabling the
removal of large cancers using a single procedure. 69 74 However,
