In-Depth Information
two syringes, one syringe containing MSCs, PRP, and air and
the other containing a thrombin/calcium chloride mixture, were
connected with a T connector, and the plungers of the syringes
were pushed and pulled alternately, allowing air bubbles to go
and return between the two syringes. Within 5 to 30 seconds,
the contents achieved a gel-like consistency because thrombin
affected the polymerization of fibrin to produce an insoluble gel
(Fig. 40.7C). It is found that in the TEB gel, the grafted cells are live
(Fig. 40.7D). Probably the PRP scaffold for MSCs would encourage
MSCs adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation to elicit bone
formation.
In the clinical application case of bone regeneration for dental
implant, these results showed that injectable TEB would stably pre-
dict the success of bone formation and dental implants (Fig. 40.8).
And it is that no adverse effects and remarkable bone absorption
were seen in the follow-uptime for four years.

is insu cient. Therefore the implant thread is exposed. (B) TEB is applied
for the thread exposure area. (C) It is found that the bone is regenerated
after TEBimplantation. (D)Final prosthesis view. See also Color Insert.
