25.5.2 Biological Implications
Several studies have been done to evaluate biological interactions
of cells supported by scaffolds fabricated using FDM. In one such
study, PCL scaffolds were fabricated using FDM for the co-culture
of osteoblasts and chondrocytes. Cells in these scaffolds were
shown to maintain their phenotype, and the approach represents a
viable strategy for the repair of osteochondral defects. 7 Osteoblas-
