The observations in the pig model were broadly similar. Adipose
tissuewasobservedaroundnewlyformedsmallvascularstructures.
There was minor inflammation but no substantial foreign body cell
infiltration. Consistently, small adipocytes and disseminated capil-
laries were observed in theamidated hyaluronan samples (Fig. 5.7).
Webelievethatitisthiscombinationoffactorsthatwasobserved
within the implanted gels, with low levels of lymphocyte infiltration
