9.14), a solution is first fed through a spinneret. A high voltage is then applied to
the solution such that at a critical voltage, typically more than 5 kV, the repulsive
force within the charged solution is larger than its surface tension and a jet erupts
from the tip of the spinneret. Although the jet is stable near the tip of the
spinneret, it soon enters a bending instability stage with further stretching of the
