Game Development Reference
In-Depth Information
If you develop a game you would better first think about the audience you
want for your game. Games for young kids are rather different from games for
middle-aged women. The games should have a different kind of gameplay, a
different visual style, and different goals.
While console games tend to take place in large 3D worlds, casual games
on websites and mobile devices are often 2D and are limited in size. Also,
console games are designed such that they can (and need to be) played for
hours and hours, while casual games are often designed to be playable in
sessions of just a few minutes. Then there are many types of serious game ,
which are games that are used for training of professionals, such as firemen,
mayors or doctors.
Realize that the games you like are not necessarily the games your target
audience likes.
