To Start the Apache Service Manager
1. Verify that all system tray icons are displayed. If the Apache Service Manager icon is not
present, click the Start button on the taskbar and then point to All Programs on the Start
menu. Point to Apache Tomcat 5.5 on the All Programs submenu. Point to Monitor Tomcat
on the Apache Tomcat 5.5 submenu.
The Apache Tomcat 5.5 submenu is displayed (Figure B-26). Only start the Apache Service Man-
ager if it is not already displayed in the system tray.

Click Monitor Tomcat.
The Apache Service Manager displays as an icon in the system tray with a green arrow on the icon
indicating that the Tomcat service is running (Figure B-27a). A red square on the icon indicates
that the Tomcat service is stopped (Figure B-27b). If an Application System Error dialog box is
displayed, then the Apache Service Manager was already running. Only one copy of the program
can run at a time.
