Installing the Java™ 2 Software Development Kit (SDK)
The Java™ 2 SDK can be obtained by downloading the required software from Sun Microsystems at
java.sun.com or from the CD-ROM that accompanies this text. The following steps show how to install
the SDK from the CD-ROM to a location on your hard drive (C:). If necessary, substitute the destina-
tion location with one specified by your instructor.

To Install the Java Software Development Kit (SDK)

1. Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. If the CT Resources Licensing Agreement dialog
box is displayed, click the Yes button. When the Course Technology dialog box is displayed,
click Software. When the software files are displayed, click Sun Java™ SDK, Standard Edition
1.5.0_02.
The Course Technology dialog box is displayed with Software and Sun Java™ SDK, Standard
Edition 1.5.0_02.

2. Click the Install button. When the License Agreement dialog box is displayed, click I accept
the terms in the license agreement.
The InstallShield Wizard dialog box is displayed briefly, followed by the License Agreement dialog
box (Figure B-2).
