Visio Services: Example 2
Fashion Station, a fictitious regional clothing store chain, provides the second BI example and includes
three primary components:
A Visio diagram
Data in SharePoint lists
A SharePoint page comprising multiple Web Parts
The first page of the Visio diagram contains a regional map with store locations and sales summaries.
The store icons on the regional map contain drill-down hyperlinks to store-level sales and inventory
diagram pages. Each store page contains a floor plan that includes the locations of merchandise racks.
Creative, colorful data graphics enhance the aesthetics of all pages and provide valuable intelligence
about store operations. The diagram is linked to two data sources in two different SharePoint lists that
contain sales and inventory data.
Finally, a SharePoint page includes multiple Web Parts, each of which presents a different aspect of
the Visio diagram or the linked data. When users change data values in either of the SharePoint lists,
the changes ripple through the Visio diagram and then appear in the various Web Parts.
