Collaborating to create the best result
Running any organization requires collaboration, and the combination of Visio 2013 and Visio
Services provides the ideal communication vehicle for coauthoring and commenting on business
diagrams.
Visio 2013 further enhances diagram collaboration by providing presence indicators. If you are
using the Visio client software and you hover over the user's name or photo in the Comments pane
(described in the section “Commenting”) or over any of the simultaneous editing icons (described in
the section “Coauthoring”), Visio produces a pop-up message box. The box includes the user's name
and title and a set of icons indicating whether the user is available via email, instant messaging, or
telephone.
Note Some presence indicators appear only if you have Microsoft Lync installed on your
computer.
Commenting
A team comprised of both Visio users and people who don't have Visio can comment on the same
diagram simultaneously. In Figure 9-5, a Visio user has opened the Comments pane, which shows a
pair of comments. The first comment was entered by the Visio user and the second was typed into
Internet Explorer by a user logged on to Office 365.
