In-Depth Information
Tip You can remove the effect of a filter while retaining the option to use the filter again
later by clicking the Clear Filter button, which is the second button in the toolbar that ap-
pears to the right of the field name. To permanently remove the filter, click the third button,
Delete Filter.
Creating an advanced filter
Rather than select a single string or date value or a range of numeric values for a basic filter, you can
switch a filter to advanced mode to access more options for specifying filter conditions. To switch
to advanced filter mode, click the Advanced Filter Mode button, which is the first one in the toolbar
appearing to the right of the field name in the Filters area. The steps you use to set the filter condition
depend on the type of field, as follows:
String Value Use one of the following operators to create a filter based on a partial word, as
shown in Figure 5-42: Contains, Does Not Contain, Starts With, Does Not Start With, Is, Is Not,
Is Blank, or Is Not Blank.
FIGURE 5-42 You can define a filter based on a subset of characters in a string.
Numeric Value You can use one of the following operators to compare a value in the tabu-
lar model to a specified value, as illustrated in Figure 5-43: Is Less Than, Is Less Than Or Equal
To, Is Greater Than, Is Greater Than Or Equal To, Is, Is Not, Is Blank, or Is Not Blank.
FIGURE 5-43 You can use comparison operators to define a filter on a numeric value.
Date Value You can use a calendar control (see Figure 5-44), and a drop-down list with
15-minute increments of time to set date and time values in combination with the following
operators: Is, Is Not, Is After, Is On Or After, Is Before, Is On Or Before, Is Blank, or Is Not Blank.
