Summary
In this chapter, we introduced Excel 2013 as a BI tool, highlighting the new Data Model and PowerPivot
Add-in. This is just an introductory chapter. Entire topic can be written just to cover this topic, let
alone all Excel 2013 features.
We've shown the new xVelocity engine and the Data Model in Excel 2010, and what you can
do with it. You can use it to create simple reports, import data to the Data Model, and create and
manage relationships. We also introduced the new features and user experience built in to PowerPivot
for Excel 2013.
In the next chapters, you'll learn how to use the data in the workbook's Data Model to build rich
reports with Power View and publish and share it in SharePoint 2013.
