Back in the Select Database And Table page of the wizard, select your database, table, and then
click Next. Excel displays the Import Data dialog box, as depicted in Figure 4-7.
The examples in this topic use the following tables:
DimDate
DimEmployee
DimSalesTerritory
DimProduct
FactResellerSales
A new element in the Excel 2013 Import Data dialog box is the check box labeled Add This Data
To The Data Model. If you do not select this check box, Excel will not create a Data Model. There
won't be any xVelocity engine, which means, for example, no compression and no in-memory per-
formance gain. It also means that you cannot create a Power View report. You will be able to create
PivotTables and PivotCharts, though. If you create a PivotTable report, Excel will create a classical or
native PivotTable. The native PivotTable (or PivotChart) is limited to using a single table, it has limited
data handling, and it has limited calculated field functionality. In other words, a classical PivotTable/
PivotChart is one that we have been creating in earlier versions of Excel.
