If we were to continue with this scenario, we would simply import from the AdventureWorks data
warehouse, right-click the project file, and then deploy to Analysis Services so that we could create a
connection file either in SharePoint (BISM), from Excel (ODC), or RSDS file for SSRS. In this chapter, we
show how to import an existing PowerPivot model into an SSDT project.
Import an existing PowerPivot model
In this example, we import an existing model, as described in Chapter 4.
To create a new tabular model project from a PowerPivot for Excel file, perform the following:
In SQL Server Data Tools, on the File menu, click New, and then click Project.

In the New Project dialog box (see Figure 3-11), in the Installed Templates section, click
Business Intelligence and then, in the center of the window, click Import From PowerPivot.
