Constructing the frame itself can be done in two ways, depending on whether your 'box' is
fixedtothegroundorisaportableversion.Theportableversionisexactlythesameexcept
the posts will be the same depth as the sides (4” is advisable as any deeper will make it
unmanageable) , and it will have a base made from ½ inch plywood in order to hold the
compost.
Traditional assembly:
First clear and level the area of ground that you intend to use for your SFG. This should be
North-South facing and have at least 7 hours direct sunshine per day, though 8 or more is
best. Be sure to avoid the shade of large trees, shrubs, and buildings when selecting a spot
for your SFG.
