Dundret (823m) is a nature reserve with excellent views of the town, Malmberget and the
Aitik copper mine, and a favourite spot for viewing the midnight sun. The tourist office or-
ganises special taxi transfers (11pm early June to mid-July, 10pm mid-July to early
August) from the train station and the price includes ice cream and waffles at the cafe at
the top.

Started in 2010, Visit Sápmi is an initiative owned by the Swedish Sami Association
with an emphasis on sustainable ecotourism. It aims to be the first port of call for visitors
with an interest in any aspect of Sami life, be it staying with reindeer herders, attending a
yoik(Sami song) session or purchasing duodjifrom the best craftspeople.
So that it can put visitors in touch with relevant Sami operators, Visit Sápmi looks to es-
tablish contact with every Sámi entrepreneur in Sweden. It awards the Sápmi Experience
quality label to operators who meet its criteria regarding sustainable practices. In time,
these guys hope to be in touch with Sami craftspeople, tour operators, musicians, chefs
and herders all over Sápmi, transcending Norwegian, Finnish and Russian country bor-
ders.

This year-round campground shares a lovely riverside spot with the hembygdsområde , an
old homestead. Cabins are set up more like apartments, with excellent, modern facilities.
