The most central place to stay is the revamped Hotel Lyktan ( 0961-612 10;

troducing appealing doubles with shiny wooden floors and discreet splashes of colour. A
sauna, steam room and hot tub are just some of the new perks.
There's one exception to the lacklustre eating scene: the restaurant at Kraja ( 0961-315
00; www.silverhatten.se ; mains Skr149-269) , a catch-all hotel and campground on its own little
peninsula just west of town, combines lake views with great local cuisine; try the deluxe
elk burger or the reindeer steak with morel sauce.
The helpful tourist office ( 0961-145 00; www.polcirkeln.nu ; Torget 1; 10am-noon &
1-5pm Mon-Fri, 10am-2pm Sat) inside the Silvermuseet has plenty of info on the surrounding
area.
Eastbound buses 26 and 17 run to Arvidsjaur (Skr130, one hour, one to two daily) and
Skellefteå (Skr252, 3¼ hours, daily except Sunday). Westbound bus 104 runs to Jäkkvikk
(Skr105, 1¼ hours, daily except Saturday).
