HULKOFFGÅRDEN
This luxurious Hulkoffgården B&B ( 0922-320 15; www.hulkoff.se ; s/d Skr650/1100; ) is
located inside a yellow farmhouse, 35km north of Haparanda along Rte 99, amidst the
most peaceful countryside imaginable and with wonderfully welcoming proprietresses.
Its restaurant is the best in the area, with imaginatively executed northern Swedish speci-
alities made from organic, locally sourced ingredients; order in advance.
Fifteen kilometres north of Haparanda, stop by the the scenic spot where the Torneälv
river is covered with the white crests of the Kukkolaforsen rapids , and watch locals hunt
for whitefish using medieval dip nets from the rickety-looking jetties.
