Naturum, off the E4, north of the village of Docksta, has exhibitions on the formation of
the Höga Kusten and stocks brochures on the area. Adrenalin junkies can tackle the four
via ferrata
routes of varying difficulty (

; from Skr350 per person) along
the flanks of
Skuleberget
mountain (285m) behind the visitor centre between May and
October.
Högbonden
A tiny island in the southern part of Höga Kusten, Högbonden is only 15 minutes by boat
from the villages of Bönhamn and Barsta. It's famous for its 100-year-old lighthouse - its
only building - atop the highest point of the rocky plateau that soars above the island's tree
line. Högbonden is bisected by a narrow gorge, and its rugged cliffs lend themselves to ex-
ploration. Your only option is to come here as a day tripper and bring a picnic, as the is-
land's sole hostel and cafe have now closed down.
Ulvön
0660
The largest island in the Höga Kusten archipelago, Ulvön is famous for its
regatta
(14 to
18 July) and for the production of
surströmming
. It's possible to purchase the noxious (or
delightful, depending on your outlook) stuff in the shops at Ulvöhamn, the island's one-
street village. A cycle path leads through the picturesque fishermen's settlement with tradi-
tional red-and-white wooden houses drowning in hibiscus blossoms in summer, past the
tiny 17th-century
chapel
decorated with colourful murals, and onwards to the preserved
17th-century fishing village of
Sandviken
in the northern part of the island.
If you wish to linger overnight, the refined
