In-Depth Information
Silverlinjen ( www.silverlinjen.se ) runs one to two daily direct buses from Öland to Stock-
holm (adult/child Skr320/220, 6½ hours), calling at Kalmar; reservations are essential.
KLT ( www.klt.se ) buses connect all the main towns on the island to Kalmar; they run
every hour or two to Borgholm (Skr56, one hour) and Mörbylånga (Skr40, one hour). A
few buses per day (including bus 106) run to Byxelkrok and Grankullavik (both Skr96,
around 2¼ hours), in the far north of the island. Services to the south are poor, with some
improvement May to August.
Borgholm & Around
Öland's 'capital' and busiest town, Borgholm has a pleasant centre 'grid' of pedestrian
streets lined with shops and restaurants that can get packed out in midsummer. The most
dramatic (and satisfying) sight is the enormous ruined castle on its outskirts.
