Hotel Baltzar
HISTORIC HOTEL
Skr590/855, superior Skr950/1050; )
Located smack in the heart of town (though it's remarkably quiet) and in an imposing lis-
ted building, the hotel's public areas could do with brightening up, but the rooms are su-
perb. The superior rooms are flamboyantly decked out with antique furniture, brass mir-
rors and oriental rugs, while the standard rooms are marginally less chintzy but just as spa-
cious.

These rooms may lack wow factor, but they are eminently comfortable and classically fur-
nished with parquet floors, tasteful wallpaper and the quirky addition of stuffed toys on the
bed. Breakfast is a superb spread; apparently a local celeb chef has had some influence on
the Best Western buffets - and it shows.

Just off Lilla Torg is one of Malmö's finest slumber spots, with spacious, elegantly under-
stated rooms featuring beautiful oak floors and snowy white matched with cobalt blue fab-
rics. Bathrooms flaunt Paloma Picasso-designed tiles, there's a sauna and gym, and the
faultless breakfast buffet is served in a glass-roofed courtyard.
