Six kilometres south of Läckö Slott, the tiny village of Spiken is home to this unmissable
harbourside restaurant that wins our vote for the best buffet on Sweden's west coast. Feast
on salmon smoked umpteen ways, take your pick of the herrings and don't miss the
smoked lamb's shoulder. Dinner is seafood heaven, too. Take bus 132.

The menu at restaurant-wine bar Pirum in central Lidköping is short, sweet and classic.
Bleak roe, beef carpaccio and shrimp salad are present and correct, there's a good balance
of fishy and meaty mains, and meals finish on the comforting sweet note that is white-
chocolate mousse and apple pie. White linen tablecloths and seamless service complete the
experience.
