CANDLE ON THE WATER
Balanced atop the windswept skerries of Västra Götaland, bright at the country's south-
ernmost tip or acting as sturdy wardens of Gotland's sandy shores: the fyr(lighthouses)
of southern Sweden are as varied as they are beautiful.
Staying in a lighthouse is one of southern Sweden's quintessential experiences, as you
find yourself amidst pristine and unique surroundings on the edge of civilisation.

Treeless, rocky Hållö feels remote and raw. The lovely red and white-trimmed cabins of
the Utpost Hållö are perched on broad granite slabs within 100m of the sea and the light-

runs here from Smögenbryggan, while Hållöexpressen goes to and from Kungshamn.
