'DOING' THE DALSLAND CANAL
The scenic Dalsland Canal crosses the eastern half of the Dalsland region and, while the
canal itself is only 10km long, it links a series of narrow lakes between Vänern and Stora
Le, providing a watery playground 250km long for boat enthusiasts and kayakers during
the summer months.

2600 from Dalslands Kanal AB ( 0530-447 50; www.dalslandscanal.se ; per week Skr14,999)

route. Want to be a passenger? M/S Storholmenand M/S Dalslandiarun short passen-
ger trips along the canal from Håverud.
Want to paddle in glorious solitude? There are 10 locations along the Dalsland Canal
network where you can rent kayaks and canoes and all necessary equipment and get ad-
vice on routes, including Kajaklodge ( 0531-125 40; www.kajaklodge.se ; Bengtsfors; per day
