Scandi-style rooms, many with sea views. The on-site restaurant celebrates local seafood,
with dishes like wolffish with blue-mussel froth and sautéed new potatoes.
Right above the water, the friendly Hallo Bar (Fiskhamnsgatan 32; dishes from Skr79;
11.30am-10pm) serves small plates of seafood dishes (so you can really go to town here!), as
well as beautifully battered fish and chips and overflowing prawn sandwiches. Coffee
Room (Sillgatan; bagels & wraps Skr75-99; 9am-11pm daily Jun-Aug) , arguably the nicest cafe
for miles around, is your pit stop for moreish milkshakes, stuffed bagels and fresh wraps.
As you walk along the boardwalk, you're likely to be lured into Hamnen 4 ( 0523-708
50; www.hamnen4.se ; Sillgatan 14-16; mains Skr165-275; 6pm-3am Mon-Fri, noon-3am Sat) by the
bewitching smells emanating from the grill. Hamnen 4 woos piscatareans with its coley
with blue mussels and brown-butter cod, but carnivores are also well catered for with ex-
pertly seared steaks and hamburgers. The well-stocked bar keeps the sea salts entertained
into the wee hours.

Mon-Fri, to 5pm Sat & Sun ) is in Kungshamn. During summer there's a second branch in the
parking lot of the ICA shopping centre directly over the Smögenbron.
Bus 841 runs regularly from Göteborg to Torp, where you switch to the 860 to Smögen
(Skr175, 2¼ to 2½ hours, five daily). From Lysekil, take bus 850 and switch to 860 in
Hallinden (Skr65, 1¼ hours, five daily).
Fjällbacka

Film star Ingrid Bergman spent her summer holidays at Fjällbacka (the main square is
named after her), though you can bet that in her day the waterfront wasn't utterly clogged
up with sun-worshipping crowds and the main street wasn't chock-a-block with classic
Chevvies and Pontiacs on fine summer days. Despite that, the tiny town is utterly charm-
ing, its brightly coloured houses squashed between steep cliffs and placid sea.

Jun-Aug) can advise on boat trips to the popular, rocky island of Väderöarna.
A block off the waterfront, steep wooden staircases lead to the top of the Vetteberget
cliff for unforgettable 360-degree views of the village, the sea and the skerries, and several
